Opportunities
Geophysics at Harvard University is keen to attract talented individuals to join the group. Opportunities exist for undergraduates to conduct research
during the summer vacation, for graduates to pursue courses of study leading to the Ph.D. degree, and for postdoctoral research by suitably qualified recent
recipients of the Ph.D. degree.
Undergraduate Opportunites
We welcome inquiries from undergraduates wishing to work with us at Harvard during the summer vacation. Prospective students should have a very strong background
in applied mathematics and physics. For further details, please contact either Jeremy Bloxham or Richard O'Connell.
Graduate Opportunities
We are extremely keen to attract strong candidates to the Ph.D. program in Geophysics. Candidates should have a very strong background in applied mathematics and physics;
although prior exposure to the Earth Sciences is beneficial, none is required.
All admitted students in good standing receive full financial support covering both tuition and a stipend for living expenses.
Applications, which are due end December 2007, are made through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Their web pages have full details about the admission process,
including requirements for taking the GRE and TOEFL examinations.
We encourage prospective students to contact one of us (Jeremy Bloxham or Richard O'Connell) to discuss their research interests before applying.
Postdoctoral Opportunities
We encourage recent Ph.D.s with research interests that overlap with ours to contact us if they are interested in the possibility of pursuing postdoctoral research at Harvard.
